phone dump friday

I haven't been able to blog during the last few Fridays and really missed sharing all the photos that gather on my phone. I use this thing A TON to capture life as it happens!

For starters, check out my awesome March Madness bracket - all of my Final 4 teams are still in it! Drew's pretty mad at me for not entering our family competition. There might be a little $$ involved. : )

For the past few weeks Asher has been pointing to the featured books on the back of his nightly story, asking to read a book that we don't have. He wanted to read it SO badly, so we took a trip to the library - fingers crossed that they would have it.

Ash insisted on bringing his reference book along so I wouldn't get the wrong one - ha!

Lucky day for us...the library had it! Woo hoo!

Asher calls it "library book" and carries it around all the time. So sweet. We might have to put a copy of this story in his Easter basket {don't tell}.

Speaking of so sweet - every few days my little guy is extra loving. I know I showed a photo like this before, but just the other morning A insisted we hold hands while eating breakfast. He knows the way to his mama's heart, for sure.

During the rest of the week he rotates between regular sweet and, um, not so sweet. We've been testing a lot of limits, throwing fits, and showing major displeasure when the boss {that's me} makes a call that's not popular with the toddler segment.

This afternoon Asher wanted a snack and I rejected all of his top 3 suggestions - cookies, Popsicle, and cereal bar. After a bit of crying {that didn't work on this mean mommy} Asher decided he'd go the martyr route and requested a slice of plain bread.

Fine by me.

Ha ha - this boy makes me laugh so hard sometimes.

Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

magical times

I mentioned that we were heading off to another adventure and we did! Drew and I brought Asher down to Florida to see Disney World and visit his grandparents!

There are a ton of photos on my big camera, but I won't be going through those and editing them until next week. For now, here's the Instagram recap of our fun so far. :-)

At first Asher definitely thought the "adventure" we told him about was going to the airport to see planes up close. ha!

He was so, so good on the plane! Now that he's 2 we had to buy him a seat and I was very grateful - he's a bear to share with! We hooked him up with books and cars while the plane started out, then once we reached cruising altitude Asher could watch a movie on the iPad and all was good in the world. Of course he didn't nap AT ALL and I was pretty worried about how that would affect the rest of our day. This boy needs his nap!

Lucky for us he did absolutely awesome, despite no nap. Once we finally got to Disney World {we stayed at the Contmeporary Resort on site} he charmed his way into a few Mickey stickers from every attendant between the parking lot and the registration desk and was good to go.

We arrived just in time to watch fireworks from our balcony. Asher wasn't a fan of all the loud booms. I thought he'd like the cool colors and designs they make, but he mostly just buried his face in my shoulder. Oh well - no big deal.

The next day we hit the Magic Kingdom with Grandma and Papa. I was a little unsure how it would go with a 2 year old but Ash had so much fun!!

We did a bunch of rides and shows, then {in a very uncharacteristic move} Ash took a nap in his stroller.

Going down...

And, he's out!

This is the 3rd time in his life that he's slept in the stroller. The parents were quite tickled.

Since no one was sure how this whole Disney thing would go over with Asher we decided to keep it to a one day adventure this time around. We ended our day with a character breakfast - which seriously sent Asher over the top. He l-o-v-e-d it!

We're living the relaxing life at Drew's parent's house now, so until you hear from me again, I'll be here...

{phone dump friday}

We had another string of adventures this week! Four out of five days were sunny and warm so Asher and I spent a lot of time outside.

This cloudless blue sky makes it hard to believe it was the end of February!

Asher got a new chair on Tuesday and I had the privilege of putting it together - ha!

A's OT had recommended that he eat with his feet flat and none of our dining chair/booster seat combos could make that happen. In case you're wondering, she wants him to eat with flat feet because of the sensory input that comes through the feet. We get a lot of sensory input through our feet and when Asher's were dangling he couldn't eat well because he was distracted trying to put them somewhere and "organize" his body.

This seat is a Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair and has a height adjustable seat and foot rest. It holds up to 200lbs and should last us forever! So far I really see an improvement in Asher's posture. He sits up a lot straighter and has less trouble eating. Hopefully the good trend will continue!

We celebrated Asher's last day in his booster seat by holding hands through dinner. A loves to hold hands and I'm grateful he's a righty while I'm a lefty - didn't interrupt either of our meals. :-)

Yesterday I just about had a heart attack when this huge bird flew into my kitchen windows. Holy cow - I don't know how it thought my dirty windows were fly through-able but it definitely got hurt. Like my bird shaped smear and feathers on the window? I checked outside and couldn't find him so I guess he was well enough to fly away!

Happy Friday everyone!
